SUBJECT:

Update Progress on Voucher Program (Amie Ware)

DATE OF MEETING:

May 12, 2020

Staff CONTACT(S):Amie Ware, Division Manager-Parks and Recreation

BACKGROUND:

The voucher program was announced on April 17 and rolled out on April 27 with the mailing of the vouchers. Businesses continue to sign up online to participate. As of May 6, twenty nine (29) businesses are participating in the program, including 8 restaurants, 13 retail establishments, 7 service-oriented businesses, and 1 non-profit.  Another 4 are updating their business licenses to be able to participate, and staff is aware of 2 more that will be submitting their application.

Staff is working to resolve a variety of concerns and issues since the program started.

·         Staff is working with the few businesses that applied but haven’t gotten their 2020 business license yet. Once they have the licenses, staff will add them to the listing.

·         Some recipients have asked about donating their vouchers to those in need. We reached out to Tree of Life to let them know that some may donate their vouchers for the Tree of Life to distribute. Other charitable organizations in Purcellville that are providing similar services are welcome to accept donated vouchers and give them to Purcellville residents in need.

·         Connie LeMarr is establishing a form to track voucher redemption, reimbursement to the businesses, and identify duplicate voucher usage. Redemption data will be dependent on the promptness of voucher submission by businesses.
