SUBJECT:

Prioritization of New Council Initiative - Aberdeen House Historic Restoration (D. Mekarski) (pg. 28)

DATE OF MEETING:

July 12, 2022

Staff CONTACT(S):David A. Mekarski, AICP, Town Manager

SUMMARY and RECOMMENDATIONS:

With recent Council discussions about the restoration of the Aberdeen House, staff is asking that Council discuss this initiative and determine its prioritization on the Town Manager's list of projects.

BACKGROUND:

Staff has arranged for Paul Davis (Company) to visit the Aberdeen House on July 18th to provide us an estimate to mitigate the existing environmental hazards in the house.  They have stated that the Town will need to remove all dead animals and trap and remove all live animals in advance of that visit – before they will enter the building.  Jason is working with the Public Works Maintenance Team to determine what is needed to perform this task safely.

Also on the 18th, we will be meeting with Pennoni engineers. We have asked them to provide an estimate of the cost to perform a structural evaluation of the House. Pennoni also has contacts that can perform the environmental mitigation.

Once we have those estimates, we will share them with you and the Town Council to get direction on next steps.
